A crucial supporting element of routine medical operations is blood transfusions. Without blood/blood component therapy, it would be impossible to do organ transplants, treat cancer, perform heart and vascular surgery, sustain patients with blood diseases, revive trauma victims, feed premature infants, etc. Being involved in all of the aforementioned activities, Batra Hospital & Medical Research Centre took care to set up a cutting-edge blood transfusion service.
The department issues 24x7 and collect blood on a voluntary and replacement basis (9:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays). Stringent selection criteria are in place to ensure that there is no compromise on the donor's health and that only quality blood/blood products are transfused to the patient. Any blood issued to the patient first goes through a battery of tests, including Test (Elisa) for Hepatitis B & C and Aids, VDRL & test for Malaria. Whole blood and apheresis component donations are carried out weekly from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, all therapeutic procedures (listed below) are on-call around the clock.
