Department Of Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is defined as that branch of medicine is which radioactive materials (unsealed sources of radiation) are used for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The department of Nuclear Medicine located on the ground floor in the Batra Hospital undertakes the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the region and also from hospitals outside the city.

A state-of -the-art ADAC dual head SPECT Camera system installed to perform SPECT, whole body and planar studies. Comprising of sophisticated software, diagnostic workstations and microdot printers.

Diagnostic imaging of the heart, lungs, brain, thyroid, stomach, salivary glands, liver, kidneys, bone, adrenal glands as well as sites of occult infection, is achieved using a sophisticated Dual Head SPECT Gamma Camera linked to state of the art computer systems.

In addition, Radio Immuno Assays are carried out in our RIA laboratory on the second floor where all hormone profiles are assayed.

Patients are treated in the Department with therapeutic levels of radioactivity for diseases such as thyrotoxicosis and painful bone metastasis, as outpatients.
