Kidney Transplantation:

The Kidney Transplant track record at the Batra Hospital generates tremendous confidence and reassurance for patients with nearly irreversible kidney ailments. Supported by two operation theaters earmarked for kidney operation, the surgery unit is geared to meet any emergency at any hour. And, thanks to the new generation monitoring equipment, the Kidney Transplant ICU as well as the sophisticated barrier nursing, intensive care in immediate and intermediate care facilities. There has not been a single case of hyper acute rejection by the recipients or any complication in the donors. Little wonder than, the department has achieved a notable reputation and has conducted more than 536 successful transplants in the past eighteen years.

A recent addition to the hospital has been the donor operations using laparoscopic techniques. This minimizes the discomfort to the donors. Donor nephrectomy using such minimally invasive techniques (Laparoscopy) has lead to much greater acceptance of kidney donation.

The integrated Renal Transplantation service has maintained a success rate of over 95% at one year with no patient mortality, comparable to the best centres in the world.
