Heart Centre is one of the largest and technically one
of the most advanced institute of cardiac care. The cardiac
centre is fully computerised with 2 coronary care units and
3 cardiac catheterization laboratories with the state of art
equipment, using digitised technology and cineless recording
systems. The facilities available are comparable to any institution
abroad. The catheterisation laboratory is also equipped with
the best equipment for electrophysiology studies and ablation
procedures.
The
combination of state of art equipment and the skills have
resulted in several land marks in the field of interventional
cardiology in India.
The heart care centre provides facilities of total cardiac
care ranging from noninvasive to invasive procedures.
Interventional
Cardiology :-
Coronary angiography, nonsurgical treatment of coronary arterial
blocks with angioplasty / stents / atherectomy / rotablator
/ laser systems. There are several international projects
underway using some of these techniques. The centre has hosted
several meetings where doctors all over the country have participated
and new interventional techniques have been demonstrated to
them. The institution has emerged as a leader in these interventional
techniques and has become a recognised centre for training
of many doctors. In the field of electrophysiology and ablation
which offers a curative form of treatment for patients with
palpitations and tachycardias, the success rates achieved
are very similar to any state of art institute in western
countries. Several meetings have been arranged so as to dissipate
knowledge and training to other institutions and doctors.Recently,
the department has obtained a sophisticated machine (CARTOS)
for electro anatomical mapping.
Coronary Care Units :-
Have the best monitoring systems (Hewlett Packard System
with Siemen's Ventilator) and are fully computerised.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 and in some areas 1:1 to
provide comfort and care to the patients. 3-4 qualified cardiology
doctors are available round the clock to look after the patients.
